The Three Musketeers

by Martin Duguay

There’s a picture in my old photo album that speaks to me every winter. Mom took the photo with our first color camera. I’m the little boy in the middle, flanked by my older brother and Dad. The three of us stand proudly on the rink in our yard, dressed in our cold weather gear, hockey sticks and skates to boot. Dad had spent hours flooding the rink after his evening shift at the factory, a routine he kept up all winter long. That perfect sheet of ice was to be the envy of the neighborhood kids for winters to come.
