A Freeform Jūnichō

by

Annie Bachini, London, England
Steve Mason, London, England

Victorian Postcards

blue baubles
on a white Christmas tree
still clouds

carollers’ voices
reach a crescendo

something’s
sizzling
in a huge pan

our favourite café
goes under the bulldozer

without mercy
lava rolls into
the abandoned city

a bucket of water
puts out the fire

rising tide
the sandcastle
slides away

Victorian postcards
fall from Grandma’s bag

left over
place names
from an old empire

scrap metal
now the latest rage

so excited
he spills tea
over the carpet

the postman arrives
shaking off the drizzle
