          finally gets a turn

          outside the tent
          inside the rain fly
          the motionless carpenter ant

          glint of obsidian—
          my niece begs a noodle
          from my bowl

          calls of nighthawks
          above camp
          the rainbow’s full arc

          washing dishes
          fingernails
          finally clean
