Susan Antolin fell in love with modern Japanese short poetry (in particular, Machi Tawara’s collection of tanka, Salad Anniversary) while living in Japan in the late 1980s but did not begin writing her own poems until 2002 when she enrolled in a creative writing workshop.
She serves as vice president of the Haiku Poets of Northern California, coedits the HPNC membership journal Mariposa, edits the HPNC newsletter on an interim basis and began editing the Haiku Society of America newsletter in 2010.
